Short answer: Choose VirtualSpeech if you are equipping one organisation’s sales team and you want a no-code roleplay builder, an admin dashboard with CSV export, LMS and SSO integration, and pricing you can see before you speak to anyone. Choose Skylar if you are a sales coach, trainer or training company delivering your own methodology across separate client engagements, under your own brand.

Both products let a seller practise a hard conversation and get scored on it. The difference is who the buyer is. VirtualSpeech publishes a lot of detail about training a team inside one company. Skylar is built for the person training several companies at once.

This guide covers what VirtualSpeech publishes on its own pages, what Skylar is for, and how to choose.

What VirtualSpeech is

VirtualSpeech calls its sales offering AI-powered sales training. Its sales team page lists sales scenarios and says its AI Coach gives personalised guidance, instant feedback, and analytics at both individual and team level. Sample roleplays named there include Sales Pitching, Elevator Pitch and a Shark Tank-style pitch. The stated job is onboarding and upskilling a sales team.

The most interesting part for anyone who builds training is Roleplay Studio. It is a no-code authoring tool. An author can create and edit the situation, the learner brief and the character details, then set five scoring criteria alongside a Delivery score. Roleplays can be staged with a choice of ten avatars and 21 rooms.

VirtualSpeech names sales and revenue teams as one pattern for that studio, including discovery and pitch conversations about your own products, buyer objections, pricing and competitors. It reports 20+ languages and more than 2,100 custom roleplays built. Those are vendor-published figures, not independently verified.

Administration is documented in detail. Admins can control which features and scenarios people get, and make assignments. They can track skills at individual, team and organisation level, and export the data as CSV. VirtualSpeech lists integration with major LMS platforms including Moodle and Blackboard, a custom API on request, and SSO support. It also says it can connect to an internal LLM or to major models including OpenAI, which again is a vendor claim rather than something verified here.

Pricing is unusually open for this category. VirtualSpeech publicly lists an individual plan at $45 a month or $399 a year. Enterprise pricing is tailored by team size and rollout, and the enterprise tier is described as including every practice type, custom roleplays, analytics, SSO, LMS and API integration, no-code authoring, a customer success manager with onboarding, and flexible licensing.

The pricing page also sets out timing. It says organisations can start with a one to two week trial, that rollouts using the existing library can be live within two weeks, that custom roleplays take three to four weeks, and that integrations run in parallel. Treat those as vendor estimates, not guarantees.

On security and data, VirtualSpeech lists SAML 2.0, LMS API integration, a choice of USA or EU data region, alignment with ISO 27001, and GDPR compliance. Alignment is not the same as certification, so do not read it as an ISO certificate. Its AI and data privacy page says conversational roleplays and AI scoring run on the OpenAI Enterprise API, that input is not used to train OpenAI models, that there is up to 30 days of temporary retention for abuse monitoring, that there is no persistent memory by default, and that clients are logically separated. AI data sits in AWS Germany for the EU region and Ohio otherwise, with SSL/TLS in transit and AES-256 at rest. VirtualSpeech also states that AI scores are for training only and not for employment decisions. These are published commitments, not an independent audit.

That is a lot of detail on the record, and it deserves credit. Many vendors in this space publish far less.

What Skylar is

Skylar is built for a narrower job. It serves independent coaches, trainers and training companies who need to turn their own methodology into practice their clients can use.

That job has a shape most platforms are not designed for. A coach does not train one workforce. They run several engagements at once, each with different buyers, different products and different objections, and the same method has to survive all of them.

So Skylar is organised around the coach’s material. It supports courses, resources, roleplays, assessments and reviews of real conversations. Roleplays can use each client’s buyer context, products and objections, and are scored against the criteria the coach sets. The method stays the coach’s. The context changes per client. You can see how that works on the build custom roleplays page.

For established training firms, Skylar also supports white-label delivery, so the programme runs under the firm’s own brand. Commercial scope and pricing are agreed directly.

The real difference: one organisation’s team vs many clients’ teams

Both products let an author write a scenario, set scoring criteria and hand it to a learner. On authoring alone, VirtualSpeech is a serious tool, and a coach who only needs to build scenarios should take Roleplay Studio seriously.

The divergence is what sits around the authoring.

VirtualSpeech’s supporting machinery points inward at one organisation. Admins control feature and scenario access for their people. Skills are tracked at individual, team and organisation level. Data exports as CSV. The LMS integration assumes there is an LMS. SSO assumes an identity provider and an IT team. A customer success manager runs the onboarding. Every one of those is a strength if you are that organisation.

A coach or training company has a different shape of problem. Several client organisations, each with its own buyers and products. One method that has to stay recognisable across all of them. One brand on the front. Clean separation between engagements.

The reviewed VirtualSpeech pages do not describe white-label delivery or a multi-client workspace model. VirtualSpeech does run a partner programme with reseller, referrer and content partner tracks, and content partners can create content featured on VirtualSpeech. That is a route to distribution and to publishing content on the platform. It is not described as own-brand delivery to your own client base, and this post does not read it as such. If you are a training company, ask VirtualSpeech directly how multi-client delivery would work.

Neither product is better in the abstract. They answer different questions.

Choose VirtualSpeech if

  • You are training one organisation’s sales team, whether that is onboarding or upskilling.
  • You want a no-code builder where you write the situation, the brief, the character and five scoring criteria yourself.
  • You need admin control over who gets which features and scenarios, plus assignments.
  • You want skill tracking at individual, team and organisation level, with CSV export.
  • Your programme has to run through an LMS such as Moodle or Blackboard, or through a custom API.
  • Your IT team requires SSO via SAML 2.0.
  • You need training in more than one language, or want a choice of avatars and settings.
  • You want to see a price before you speak to sales, or you are one person buying for yourself.
  • Your procurement team wants published data-residency and AI-handling detail to review.

Choose Skylar if

  • You are a sales coach, trainer or training company, not an internal enablement team.
  • Your own methodology is the product, and it has to stay front and centre.
  • You deliver to several separate client organisations and need roleplays built on each client’s buyers, products and objections.
  • You want white-label delivery so clients see your brand.
  • You want courses, resources, roleplays, assessments and real-conversation reviews in one place.
  • You want a platform designed for sales trainers rather than one built for a single employer’s workforce.

Frequently asked questions

Is VirtualSpeech or Skylar better for a sales training company?

Skylar is built for that job. It is designed for coaches and training companies delivering their own method to multiple clients, with white-label delivery available to established firms. The reviewed VirtualSpeech pages describe training inside one organisation and do not describe white-label or multi-client delivery, so confirm that directly with VirtualSpeech.

Can I build my own roleplays in VirtualSpeech?

Yes. VirtualSpeech’s Roleplay Studio is a no-code builder. You can create and edit the situation, the learner brief and the character details, and set five scoring criteria plus a Delivery score. There are ten avatars and 21 rooms to choose from, and VirtualSpeech reports more than 2,100 custom roleplays built.

Can VirtualSpeech roleplays cover my client’s products and objections?

The Roleplay Studio page names sales and revenue teams as a pattern, including discovery and pitch conversations around your own products, buyer objections, pricing and competitors. How that works across several separate client organisations is not described on the reviewed pages, so ask VirtualSpeech.

How much does VirtualSpeech cost?

VirtualSpeech publicly lists an individual plan at $45 a month or $399 a year. Enterprise pricing is tailored to team size and rollout, and is not published.

How long does a VirtualSpeech rollout take?

VirtualSpeech says organisations can begin with a one to two week trial, that rollouts using the existing library can be live within two weeks, that custom roleplays take three to four weeks, and that integrations run in parallel. Those are the vendor’s own estimates rather than guarantees.

Does VirtualSpeech integrate with an LMS and SSO?

Yes. VirtualSpeech says its admin dashboard integrates with major LMS platforms including Moodle and Blackboard, offers a custom API on request, and supports SSO. Its pricing page names SAML 2.0.

Is VirtualSpeech ISO 27001 certified?

VirtualSpeech’s pricing page says it aligns with ISO 27001 and complies with GDPR. Alignment is not certification, so this post makes no certification claim. Ask VirtualSpeech for current documentation.

What happens to roleplay data in VirtualSpeech?

VirtualSpeech says conversational roleplays and AI scoring use the OpenAI Enterprise API, that input is not used to train OpenAI models, that there is up to 30 days of temporary retention for abuse monitoring, that there is no persistent memory by default, and that clients are logically separated. AI data is stored in AWS Germany for the EU region and Ohio otherwise, with SSL/TLS and AES-256. It also says AI scores are for training only, not employment decisions. These are VirtualSpeech’s published commitments, not an audited result.

Can VirtualSpeech be delivered under my own brand?

The reviewed VirtualSpeech pages do not describe white-label delivery. Its partner programme covers reseller, referrer and content partner tracks, with content partners able to create content featured on VirtualSpeech, which is a different thing. Confirm the detail with VirtualSpeech. Skylar offers white-label delivery for established training firms.

Can Skylar roleplays follow my own sales method?

Yes. Skylar roleplays use the criteria you set, and take each client’s buyer context, products and objections. Your method stays the same; the context changes per client.

The short answer, again

If you are equipping one organisation’s sales team and you want no-code authoring, admin control, LMS and SSO integration, published pricing and published data commitments, VirtualSpeech is the stronger fit. If you are a coach or training company carrying your own method and your own brand across separate client engagements, Skylar is built for that.
