Mursion vs Skylar: Immersive Enterprise Simulations or Coach-Owned Practice?
Mursion runs immersive simulations with a live human behind the avatar, certified coaching and documented LMS and SSO integration for enterprise L&D. Skylar is built for coaches and training companies delivering their own method to many clients under their own brand. Here is how the two compare.

Short answer: Choose Mursion if you run an internal enterprise L&D or sales-readiness programme and want immersive simulations with a live human behind the avatar, certified coaching, and documented LMS and identity integration. Choose Skylar if you are a sales coach, trainer or training company who has to deliver your own method, to different clients, under your own brand.
Both products give people a safe place to practise hard conversations. They are built for different buyers. This guide covers what Mursion publishes about its platform, what Skylar is for, and how to pick.

What Mursion is
Mursion calls itself an immersive learning platform. It uses AI-powered simulations to help people handle difficult employee conversations, and it says its simulations and expert coaching build skills. The company positions itself as purpose-built for enterprise L&D, which is vendor positioning rather than independent verification.
The scope is broad. Mursion’s navigation names leadership, change management, customer service, healthcare and education content, and it lists Sales Excellence as one of its solutions. So this is workforce and leadership upskilling with sales in the mix, not a sales-only tool.
The part that stands out is the practice model. Mursion describes the Mursion Intelligence Platform and says its simulations have a live human behind the avatar. That human performer is the difference. The platform says simulations are grounded in behavioural science, offer unlimited repetitions and give feed-forward feedback. Mursion also says more than a third of Fortune 100 companies have used Mursion. That is Mursion’s own statement, not an outside audit.
Coaching sits next to the simulations. Mursion describes personalised sessions, tailored programmes and certified coaches, with algorithmic matching between coach and learner. Coaches build personalised growth plans and refine those plans using simulation sessions and assessments. Mursion says its coaching is informed by reviewed simulation performance, not only self-assessment. It also says managers can view real-time individual performance metrics in a dashboard.
Integration is documented in detail. Mursion says it supports LMS launch and completion-data sync through SCORM 2004 and SCORM 1.2. For identity, it lists SAML 2.0 including Okta, Azure AD, Ping and most major identity providers, plus OAuth 2.0/OIDC, JIT provisioning with cohort mapping, and deep linking. The page describes SSO setup as a one-time activity with IT or the identity team, and references a customer success manager. That is a clear signal of who the product expects on the other side of the table: an organisation with an LMS, an IT function and an identity provider.
On AI, Mursion says AI powers parts of the simulation experience, feedback and internal workflows. It states that simulation data are not used for model fine-tuning or training, and that one customer’s data are not used in another customer’s simulations or evaluations. It also describes cross-functional oversight, risk-based review, human oversight, monitoring and testing, and evaluation of third-party providers. These are Mursion’s published commitments. They are not independently certified as far as this review can tell.
One gap worth naming honestly: Mursion’s trust centre is linked from the site footer, but it did not load during this research. So this post makes no claim about SOC 2, ISO or any other certification. Ask Mursion directly and review the documents yourself.
No public pricing or packaging figure was found on the reviewed pages either. Plan for a sales conversation.
What Skylar is
Skylar is built for a narrower job. It serves independent coaches, trainers and training companies who need to turn their own methodology into practice their clients can use.
That job has a shape most platforms are not designed for. A coach does not train one workforce. They run several engagements at once, each with different buyers, different products and different objections, and they have to deliver the same method through all of them.
So Skylar is organised around the coach’s material. It supports courses, resources, roleplays, assessments and reviews of real conversations. Roleplays can use each client’s buyer context, products and objections, and are scored against the criteria the coach sets. The method stays the coach’s. The context changes per client.
For established training firms, Skylar also supports white-label delivery, so the programme runs under the firm’s own brand. Commercial scope and pricing are agreed directly.
The real difference: depth inside one organisation vs reach across many
Both products put people in front of a realistic conversation and let them repeat it. That is not where they diverge.
Mursion goes deep inside one organisation. A live human behind the avatar, certified coaches matched to learners, manager dashboards, SCORM completion data flowing back into the LMS, SSO through the corporate identity provider. Each of those things assumes one employer with one IT team, one LMS and one set of employees. That is a strength, not a limitation, if that is what you are.
Skylar goes wide across many organisations. A coach running several client programmes needs several sets of buyer context, one method, and one brand on the front of it. The reviewed Mursion pages do not describe an independent coach or trainer partner model, white-label delivery, or delivery across multiple external client organisations. That absence is about the reviewed material, not proof it cannot be done, and it is worth asking Mursion about if you are a training company.
Neither shape is better. They answer different questions.
Choose Mursion if
- You run an internal enterprise L&D or sales-readiness programme.
- You want simulations with a live human performer behind the avatar, not AI alone.
- You want certified coaching attached to practice, with coaches working from reviewed simulation performance.
- You need managers to see individual performance metrics in a dashboard.
- Your programme has to launch from an LMS and report completion through SCORM.
- Your IT or identity team requires SAML 2.0, OAuth 2.0/OIDC, JIT provisioning and deep linking.
- You are upskilling beyond sales, across leadership, change management or customer service.
Choose Skylar if
- You are a sales coach, trainer or training company, not an internal enablement team.
- Your own methodology is the product, and it has to stay front and centre.
- You deliver to several separate client organisations and need roleplays built on each client’s buyers, products and objections.
- You want white-label delivery so clients see your brand.
- You want courses, resources, roleplays, assessments and real-conversation reviews in one place.
- You want a platform designed for sales trainers rather than adapted from an internal-workforce tool.
Frequently asked questions
Is Mursion or Skylar better for a sales training company?
Skylar is built for that job. It is designed for independent coaches and training companies delivering their own method to multiple clients, with white-label delivery available to established firms. The reviewed Mursion pages describe an enterprise L&D product and do not describe a partner model for independent trainers, so confirm that directly with Mursion.
Does Mursion use AI or real people in its simulations?
Both. Mursion says AI powers parts of the simulation experience, feedback and internal workflows, and its platform page describes simulations with a live human behind the avatar.
Is Mursion only for sales training?
No. Mursion’s navigation names leadership, change management, customer service, healthcare and education content, and it lists Sales Excellence as one of its solutions. It is broader workforce and leadership upskilling with a sales offering inside it.
How much does Mursion cost?
No public pricing or packaging figure was found on the reviewed Mursion pages. You will need to speak to Mursion.
Does Mursion integrate with an LMS and SSO?
Yes. Mursion says it supports LMS launch and completion-data sync through SCORM 2004 and SCORM 1.2, and offers SAML 2.0 with Okta, Azure AD, Ping and most major identity providers, plus OAuth 2.0/OIDC, JIT provisioning with cohort mapping and deep linking. It describes SSO setup as a one-time activity with your IT or identity team.
Is Mursion secure enough for enterprise use?
That is a question for Mursion. Mursion publishes AI commitments, including that simulation data are not used for model fine-tuning or training and that one customer’s data are not used in another customer’s simulations or evaluations. Its trust centre did not load during this research, so this post makes no claim about certifications. Ask Mursion for current documentation.
Can Mursion be delivered under my own brand to my clients?
The reviewed Mursion pages do not describe white-label delivery or delivery across multiple external client organisations. Confirm it with Mursion. Skylar offers white-label delivery for established training firms.
Can Skylar roleplays follow my own sales method?
Yes. Skylar roleplays use the criteria you set, and take each client’s buyer context, products and objections. Your method stays the same; the context changes per client.
The short answer, again
If you are building an internal enterprise programme and you want immersive simulations with a live human performer, certified coaching, manager dashboards and documented LMS and SSO integration, Mursion is the stronger fit. If you are a coach or training company who has to carry your own method and brand across separate client engagements, Skylar is built for that.
