SkillGym vs Skylar: Which Fits Sales Coaches and Training Companies?
SkillGym offers digital role play for critical conversations across leadership, DE&I and sales, with individual development paths and a three-tier feedback system. Skylar is built for coaches and training companies who deliver their own methodology, under their own brand, across separate client engagements.

Short answer: Choose SkillGym if you sit inside an organisation and want people to practise critical conversations across several disciplines — leadership, DE&I and sales — with individual development paths and structured feedback. Choose Skylar if you are a sales coach, trainer or training company delivering your own methodology to separate client businesses, and you need that methodology to run as practice your clients work through under your name.
Both put people in front of a simulated conversation. The person signing the invoice is not the same person.
SkillGym is broad by design. Skylar is narrow by design. That difference decides most of these calls.

What SkillGym is built for
SkillGym describes itself, in its home page title and meta description, as digital role play for critical conversations, powered by artificial intelligence, augmented reality and interactive video. Its stated use areas are leadership, DE&I and sales.
That is a wide brief, and it is a real strength. A learning and development team rarely has one problem. It has a manager who avoids difficult feedback, a hiring panel that needs to handle bias, and a sales team that needs to handle a price objection. SkillGym’s own positioning covers all three from one place.
The structure sits underneath. SkillGym describes individual development paths, so practice is framed as a route a person moves along rather than a single exercise. It also describes a three-tier feedback system: emotional, analytical and metric-driven. Those three lenses answer different questions — how did that land, what actually happened, and what does the number say.
Buying starts with a conversation. SkillGym runs a discovery-call page rather than a signup flow, so plan for a scoping call before you see the product against your own scenarios.
What we could not confirm
This part matters, so we will be plain about it. Across the official SkillGym pages we reviewed, we did not find published detail on security certifications, single sign-on, integrations, APIs, a data processing standard, a partner programme, white-label delivery, multi-client controls, or sales-specific scenario building.
That is a statement about what those pages cover. It is not a claim that SkillGym lacks any of it. If any of those points is a requirement for you, ask SkillGym directly and get the answer in writing before you commit.
Pricing
SkillGym does not publish pricing on the pages we reviewed. The site routes to a discovery call instead, so a quote has to be requested.
So budget for a conversation, not a self-serve signup. Ask for the commercial model, the term and what triggers a price change, because none of that is public.
Privacy and transparency
SkillGym publishes a privacy page at skillgym.com/privacy. That is the document to read first if you are handling learner data.
Beyond that page, we did not find published security or compliance detail on the official pages we reviewed. For a procurement process, that means the assurance material has to come from SkillGym on request rather than from the website. Ask what standard applies, where data is held, and whether conversation recordings are used for anything beyond your own programme.
What Skylar is built for
Skylar starts from a different seat. You are not the team being trained. You train them. Your clients are separate businesses with their own buyers, their own products and their own objections — and each one pays you for your method.
Our sales trainers page sets out how that works. Skylar takes your methodology and turns it into AI roleplay customised per client: their buyers, their products, their objections, and the criteria you choose to grade against.
That last part is the whole point. Your method is the product you sell. If the practice teaches a generic framework, your client is learning someone else’s approach with your name on the invoice.
Roleplay is not the whole system either. Skylar gives your clients courses, resources, roleplays, assessments and reviews of real conversations, in one place. The workshop stops being an event and becomes a programme that keeps running between your live sessions.
For established training firms there is white-label delivery: your logo, your colours, your domain and your company name. Scope and pricing are agreed at setup. Clients see your brand, because your brand is what they bought.
Choose SkillGym if
- The people practising work for you, not for your clients.
- You need critical-conversation practice across more than sales — leadership and DE&I sit in the same remit.
- You want learners on individual development paths rather than one-off exercises.
- Emotional, analytical and metric-driven feedback matches how you already assess people.
- An interactive-video-led practice experience suits your learners and evaluation process.
- You are happy to run a demo or discovery call to get pricing and technical detail.
Choose Skylar if
- You are an independent sales coach, trainer or training company, and your clients are other businesses.
- Your methodology is what clients pay for, and the practice has to teach it.
- You need roleplays customised per client, with their buyers, products, objections and assessment criteria.
- You want courses, resources, roleplays, assessments and real-conversation reviews in one system.
- You want practice to keep running between your live sessions.
- You are an established firm and want the platform to carry your own brand.
SkillGym vs Skylar FAQs
What is SkillGym?
SkillGym describes itself as digital role play for critical conversations, powered by artificial intelligence, augmented reality and interactive video. Its home page names leadership, DE&I and sales as use areas, and describes individual development paths plus a three-tier feedback system: emotional, analytical and metric-driven.
How much does SkillGym cost?
SkillGym does not publish pricing on the pages we reviewed. The site routes to a request-demo or discovery-call path, so expect a quote rather than a list price. Ask for the commercial model and the contract term at the same time, since neither is public.
Does SkillGym support trainer delivery to multiple client companies?
The official pages we reviewed do not describe multi-client delivery, white-label branding or a partner programme. That is what the pages cover, not a judgement on what SkillGym can do. If you run a training business, ask SkillGym directly before assuming either way.
Does SkillGym cover sales specifically?
Its home page lists sales among its use areas, alongside leadership and DE&I. The reviewed pages do not go further into sales-specific scenario building, so ask how a sales scenario is created and how closely it can match your market.
What does SkillGym publish about security and privacy?
There is an official privacy page at skillgym.com/privacy. We did not find published certification, single sign-on, integration or data processing detail on the official pages we reviewed. Request that material directly as part of procurement.
Can Skylar deliver my methodology across different clients?
Yes. That is the design. You build the practice around your method, then customise each client’s roleplays so their reps face buyers, products and objections that match their market, graded against the criteria you set.
Can I put my own brand on Skylar?
Skylar offers white-label delivery for established training firms — your logo, your colours, your domain and your company name, with scope and pricing agreed at setup.
The short answer
SkillGym is a credible choice for an internal L&D or people-development team that wants broad critical-conversation practice across leadership, DE&I and sales, with structured paths and layered feedback. Skylar is the choice when the method belongs to you and the learners belong to your clients.
If that second description fits, have a look at the Sales Coach Hub to see how other trainers run their programmes — then talk to us about what your version would look like.
